Today is the day

Yes, you read it right. Today is the day I am going to go active on the lung transplant list. That means the call can come anytime. Of course, today I feel pretty good but I know that this is not the norm these days.

I had a nice but rainy vacation. I felt pretty good most of the time except for some GI issues. I think I had caught a bug because Brian has it now. My lungs were pretty good most of the vacation.

I need ideas on how to live a normal live while waiting for that call for lungs. My center wants me no further than 4 hours away from the hospital. I currently live 2 1/2 hours from the there.

I guess that is all I have to say today. I think I am still in vacation mode.

I'm glad that you made a decision that you're comfortable with and I hope that the right lungs are available at the right time.

I'll be thinking and praying for you and your family.

Congratulations!!! I'm glad you made this decision!!!

As far as suggestions on how to live your life "normally" while waiting on that call....that's a tough one. For me, the thought was constantly on my mind. I was constantly praying for lungs. And I was so sick, that I basically was a prisoner to my home, so I didn't get out much.

But I wouldn't let the anticipation of the "call" stop you from doing anything. Just try to continue doing whatever you were doing before you went active (as much as you can tolerate physically). Just stay within the 4hour parameters. Maybe find some good books to read or a project that can take your mind off of it? That's really all I can tell you!! Good luck!

I think this is the best decision for you!! My sister had a transplant 5 years ago and had a lot of the similar feeling you are having now. (Not all the same, but some the same). Just so you know, on the day of the surgery, she became very very calm and she went into the surgery confident and calm. It just came over her, maybe from an angel (we think so). I know the same thing will happen for you. -CG

WOW Steph! You did it.

I can only imagine you might feel relieved to have finally made a/the decision? I am excited for you and will be following your blog (and FB pg) *closely*!

Do you have anyone that can update all of us when you're called? Just curious. :)

I hope you're able to find some peace while you wait for the call.

Thinking of you! ~

I live about 2 hrs from my hospital as well, I've been trying to keep my mind busy bc idle thoughts aren't always the best. I've been active for 2 months, here's to hoping we can learn from each other in this experience!
